The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the nominations for the 2005 WorldHockey Women’s Player of the Year awards.
The nominations are as follows (in alphabetical order):

Nominations were decided by a survey of international coaches, with player of the tournament voting from major events in 2005 also taken into consideration.
The award winners will be determined by a ballot of players and coaches from the six competing teams at the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy, currently being held in Canberra, Australia.
The awards will be presented after the final of the Champions Trophy this Sunday, 4 December, 2005, during the official closing ceremony.
Nominations and presentations for the WorldHockey Men’s Player of the Year awards will take place in Chennai, India, during the Sahara Hockey Champions Trophy, starting 10 December.
